The majority of wood floors have a varnish(Sometimes referred as Lacquer) applied as the finish, which caters for light, medium and heavy trafficked areas!.

The most popular and certainly most durable of these are the manufacturers Bona and Junckers. They both offer either a Matt, Matt Silk or Gloss finish!

Both of these products are water based and give your floor the highest protection possible and even a Heavy Duty or a Non Slip version! Usually used in commercial environments!

Our recommendation is to apply Three coats(First coat is a primer)of which each coat can take up to two hours to dry and will fully cure within three to seven days!

Stains can be applied to the freshly sanded floor prior to varnishing!
If deciding to use Oils, instead of varnish, you can sometimes use an oil stain followed by an oil sealant, which may, in some cases, require several coats.
